The 2007 Masters Friday Tournament was once again hosted by one of the nation's premier golfing venues, Pine Forest CC. While the traditional "Switcheroo" format remained intact (where all 4-some's are jumbled at the turn), the scoring format was modified from a Scramble, to a Shamble.
The leaders coming off the course (Eric Lauritzen & Tim Waikem: both posted an impressive
-7); however it was Vijay & Phil that helped secure the victory for Lauritzen. Waikem took a flyer with David Toms, whose +6 scuttled any chance of securing the Jacket. In the end, Lauritzen's -7 at Pine Forest cleared the field by 4 strokes, allowing him a stress-free and gingerly stroll up Broadgreen's Amen cul-de-sac for the Green Jacket ceremony at the Murdock's Cabin.
(Worthy of note...Eric Lauritzen is arguably our finest, "non-member" to dawn a Green Jacket. He held the office of Masters Friday Champion with pride and class).
